Symbolism and Benefits of Eleven Faced Rudraksha
Eleven faced Rudraksa is also commonly known as eleven “mukhi” Rudraksha or “ekadashmukhi” Rudraksha. It is considered the most beneficial and favourable Rudraksha and is also believed to imbibe the light energy of Lord Shiva. The 11 faced Rudraksha is believed to be the most effective among all Rudraksha and the eleventh Rudraksha is believed to be symbolic of Lord Hanuman. This holy bead is synonymously called Gyarah Mukhi Rudraksha.
This Rudraksha is believed not only to imbibe the positive energies of Lord Shiva but it also emanates the strength, wisdom and knowledge of Lord Hanuman to the wearer. The eleven faced Rudraksha has the power to ward off the evil eye and just as the presence of Lord Hanuman gets rid of negative spirits and ghosts, the eleven faced Rudraksha works in the same way.
This Rudraksha is considered to be highly beneficial to its wearer. It imparts the virtues and positive energy to the person wearing this Rudraksha. The wearer can feel a surge of positive energy, wisdom, courage and lead a healthy life, combating any ill health or disease.
The eleven faced Rudraksha is also symbolic of Lord Indra. Hence, the wearer of this Rudraksha is bound to attract positive vibes and happiness in the long run. ELEVEN FACED RUDRAKSHA AND ITS CHAKRA
Eleven faced Rudraksha is correspondent to the “dishuddha” chakra or throat chakra, which is considered to be the fifth chakr ain accordance with the Hindu tradition of “tantra”. The fifth chakra is considered to be the most powerful chakra and it indicates the ability of speech and hearing. “Dishuddha” which loosely translates to pure, is considered to be the purification point of the body.
The eleven faced Rudraksha is therefore considered to enhance the learning abilities of the individual. This chakra is also considered to be the source of knowledge, righteousness, decisiveness and the relentlessness to get things down. A person wearing this Rudraksha has clarity of vision and is able to make the right choice in life. The influence of Lord Hanuman also protects the wearer from fatalities and negative influences in life.
HISTORY OF ELEVEN FACED RUDRAKSHA
According to the Rudra Samhita, the eleven faced Rudraksha is associated with the eleven Rudras. The holy Rudra Samhita mentions that there was a fierce battle between the Demons and the Gods. Finally, the Demons were able to win the battle and the Gods had to leave their abode, Amravathy. The Gods went to sage Kashyap and asked for his help.
Sage Kashyap was a wise and learned individual and the defeat of the Gods did not sit well with him. He was sympathetic to the Gods and decided to go to Banaras to pray and to appease Lord Shiva. After intense meditation Lord Shiva appeared and offered to help the Gods on his behalf. Eventually, Sage Kashyap and his wife had eleven children, who were the eleven Rudras and the result of Lord Shiva’s boon.
These eleven children of sage Kashyap or the eleven Rudras defeated the Demons and were able to bring victory to the Gods. Hence, the eleven faced Rudraksha is symbolic of the power and wisdom of the eleven Rudras. This Rudraksha imbibes the spirits and influence of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman, thereby affecting the wearer in a positive and a beneficial manner.
This Rudraksha also has its spiritual significance. A person wearing this Rudraksha is not just blessed with strength and success but they get in touch with their spiritual being and work towards fulfilling their spiritual goals. This Rudraksha is also considered beneficial for artists as it is believed to enhance their creativity.
PROPERTIES OF ELEVEN FACED RUDRAKSHA
The eleven faced Rudraksha comprises of eleven lines or “mukhis”, beginning from the head of the Rudraksha and concluding at the bottom end in a continuous and uninterrupted line. The symmetrical lines have no breakage in between and each individual line is considered to reflect the energies of the eleven Rudras.
It is also a very rare find and its magical and spiritual power may get a beneficial Rudraksha. This oval shaped Rudraksha is mainly found in Nepal and Java. Its colour can be different shades of brown and it is also believed to help in spiritualism and meditation.
PUJA FOR THE ELEVEN FACED RUDRAKSHA
The auspicious day for wearing an eleven faced Rudraksha is Thursdays and the following steps need to be performed during its puja:
- The eleven faced Rudraksha should be gently dipped and washed in a mixture of water and Ganga Jal.
- One should be careful to avoid scrubbing or using of soap or detergent.
- Once cleaned this Rudraksha should be placed in a copper vessel with nine Peepal leaves.
- After this a flower, preferably marigold should be placed on the copper vessels and a mixture of water and Ganga Jal should be sprinkled on the Rudraksha.
- Sandalwood paste should now be applied to the Rudraksha and it should be adorned with flowers.
- A ghee lamp should be lighted beside the copper vessel followed by incense sticks.
- Now the mantra, “aum hreen hoon namah, aum shree rudraye namah”, should be chanted 108 times.
- Finally after this puja the eleven faced Rudraksha is ready to be worn by the individual.
