Proper sanitation is an integral part of a healthy living and the overall positive energy of the house. In the old days a toilet was considered to be the distressed area in our homes as we get rid of our toxins and bodily wastes there. This is what makes it important for the toilet to be Vastu compliant and hinder all the negative energy emitted in this zone. In this post, I have explained tips on Vastu for toilet that make your home free from negative energy.
Why is Vastu important for a Toilet?
Vastu Shastra is important for toilets to not only hinder the negative energy here but also to negate the overall impact it may have on the mental, physical and financial wellbeing of the residents.
A Non Vastu compliant toilet results in:
- A negative mental health.
- Physical sickness and ailments.
- Sometimes also amounting to major accidents.
- On the financial front it could also lead to loss of wealth and assets.
So in order to have a full and nurturing family life, good finances and proper mental health, we need to acknowledge the following Vastu tips for a Vastu compliant toilet.
1) Choosing the right direction for the location of the toilet:
Vastu has stated that the ideal placement for a toilet in the house is the West or North West side of the bedroom. The West is ideally suited for a toilet which is attached to the bedroom. However, if the toilet is built separately, it is best constructed in the North-West direction. Vastu has urged to avoid East or North direction whereas it is viable to build the toilet facing the South as well.
2) Remedy for Non Vastu compliant toilets:
It has been specifically stated in Vastu that a toilet should never be built facing the South-West direction. If however, a toilet is built in this direction, we can place a Vastu pyramid on the outer walls of the toilet. Vastu also suggests in addition that the doors of the toilet should be kept closed at all times.
3) Alignment of the water containers and commode in a toilet:
The buckets and water containers in the toilet are perfectly suited in the North-South axis. Vastu states that the water containers in the toilets are the most vulnerable when it comes to attracting negative energy. Hence, they should be placed in the West, South or North-West direction.
Vastu emphasizes on the wellbeing and the health of an individual and it can be positively maintained by aligning the commode in the correct direction. The commode should be fixed in such a position so that a person while sitting on it is neither facing the East nor the North direction.
4) The toilet door/ entrance in correspondence to Vastu:
The entry door of the toilet should always face the Eastern or Northern wall. Ideally a toilet should be constructed unattached to the bedroom, but, if it is attached then Vastu advises to build a small room in between to create discontinuity between the bedroom and toilet. One should also take precautions in maintaining the height of the entry door of the toilet. The Vastu states that the height of the entry door should be higher than the ground level.
5) The toilet floor in correspondence to Vastu:
Since the toilets are used for the discharge of waste in our body, it is of prime importance that we scrutinize every nook and corner of it and make it Vastu compliant for maximum benefit. Here, the Vastu states that the flooring of the toilet too should be taken care of. Vastu advises us to use marble or tile flooring for the toilet. It is also necessary that the waste water drains in the North and East direction for the wellbeing of the residents.
6) Choosing of the colours and tone:
The colours of the rooms emit different vibes and tones. Hence, Vastu states that the desirable colour for the toilet is light and calm shades such as white, pink, sky blue or light grey. Basically it is believed that the lighter or brighter shades emit positive energy and vibrations in the toilet.
Miscellaneous points and Things to Avoid for a Vastu Compliant toilet
- A toilet should never be constructed under a staircase. The space or area below the staircase is never a suitable place for a toilet to be built.
- Wooden doors are ideally suited for the toilets. It is to be noted that metal and aluminium doors should be avoided because metal is said to emit negative energy.
- The toilet should never share a wall with a “puja”/ prayer room or kitchen. It is strictly spoken against of, in the Vastu and should be followed for a better and healthy living.
- It is favourable to have a window in the toilet to let the sunshine in. However, while placing it, it is necessary that the North, West or East wall is used for it.
- The water tanks should never be kept above or under the prayer rooms or the bedrooms. This is considered inauspicious and can adversely affect the family members residing in the house.
- For the installation of the septic tank, Vastu states that the South side of the toilet wall should be avoided.
- The mirrors in the toilet should never be hung in the South or West wall. Perfect walls would be the North and the East walls. However one should also take note that the mirror does not reflect the bedroom when the door of the toilet is opened.
- If a washing machine is placed inside the toilet, it should be ideally placed in the North-West or South-East direction.
- It is also of utmost importance to note that a toilet should never be constructed right above the entrance door of the house. This is strictly prohibited as it is considered a bad omen and may attract poor health and mental sickness to the family.
- We discussed the importance of building the toilet in the West or the North-West zone. Vastu has forbidden the North-East zone for the construction of toilets as it is said to bring interference or disturbance in the individual’s thought process and could also cause head injuries or mental issues.
Vastu, has and always will ensure a healthier living if followed precisely. In today’s world where the stress levels are high and the work pressure is on the rise, attempting to construct a Vastu compliant home could guarantee our mental and financial stability along with crucial health benefits in the long run.
